Poll: Mariners in playoffs or Seahawks regular season game?

The Mariners have won eight of their last nine games and are 2.5 games out of the second Wild Card spot and 5.5 games behind the Rangers in the American League West.

The Mariners haven’t been in the playoffs since 2001, which is Major League Baseball’s longest active streak without a postseason appearance.

Riding the current wave of optimism, 710 ESPN Seattle’s Tom Wassell has a question for Seattle sports fans:

It’s a Sunday in October. Mariners in playoffs. Seahawks reg season. Which are you watching if on at the same time?

The poll is ongoing, but if the first hour is any indication, Mariners fans are anxious for a return to postseason play. Of the first 230 votes cast, 64 percent picked the Mariners.

“Overwhelmingly Mariners,” Wassell said. “See, people are fired up for the Mariners right now. It can be a baseball town. It doesn’t have to be dominated by the imperial hand of the NFL at all times.”
