The Seattle Sounders FC have added another international
star to their roster, announcing the signing of Swiss
forward Blaise Nkufo.
The free transfer was announced on Thursday. Nkufo will
join
the Sounders after completing his commitments to his
current
European club team, FC Twente in Holland, and his
commitments to the Swiss national team in the World Cup.
Nkufo is the all-time scoring leader for Twente with 111
career goals in his seventh season with the powerful Dutch
club team. He also has 27 caps with the Swiss national
team
and scored five goals during World Cup qualifying.
Nkufo, 34, says he visited Seattle last winter and was
impressed with the organization and the Sounders’
facilities.
