The XFL will be attempting its third installment of spring football starting next February, and once again, Seattle will have a team. And on Monday, the league unveiled all eight team names and logos, including that of the Seattle Sea Dragons.

“Seattle, get excited and get loud for your Sea Dragons,” head coach Jim Haslett said in a news release. “A storm is coming, and we’re bringing the excitement back. The Sea Dragons are ready to play hard and smart for our fans in one of America’s great football cities.”

Haslett, a longtime coach, is the team’s head coach and general manager. He had four NFL stints as a defensive coordinator, multiple stints as a linebackers coach and was the head coach of the New Orleans Saints from 2000-05.

The original launch of the XFL was back in 2001 under then-WWE chairman Vince McMahon. The league folded after just the one season, however, but returned in early-2020 with McMahon also owning the league. But due in part to the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, the XFL again shut down, this time after just five games.

Seattle had a team that year, which was the Seattle Dragons led by former Seahawks quarterback and quarterbacks coach Jim Zorn. The team was 1-4 at the time of the XFL’s shutdown.

This time, the XFL is owned and operated by former WWE star and current movie star Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, his ex-wife Dany Garcia and Gerry Cardinale of RedBird Capital Partners.

“We could not be more excited to unveil our new team identities. Countless hours of creative sessions and collaboration went into bringing these team brands to life. Each team’s identity represents the fabric of their local community while also embodying the XFL’s vision and ethos: they are authentic, dynamic, modern, and unapologetically bold,” Garcia said. “We can’t wait to see our XFL fans representing their favorite XFL teams this upcoming season.”

“Every one of these logos has a unique energy, intensity, and electricity that each team and their fans will bring on game day. Now is the time for our fans to get behind a team – their team – and wear these logos and represent their city with pride,” Johnson said. “From the start, Dany, Gerry, and I have wanted to deliver our fans nothing but the best, and it is motivating to see our creative vision come to life. We have our cities, our team identities, and our rockstar coaches. Now we get to fill our rosters with hungry and deserving players that will wear their uniforms with XFL pride.”

The other seven XFL teams are the Arlington Renegades, D.C. Defenders, Houston Roughnecks, Orlando Guardians, San Antonio Brahmas, St. Louis Battlehawks and Vegas Vipers.

The XFL is set to kickoff on Feb. 18, 2023 and the Sea Dragons will play their home games at Lumen Field. To follow along with the Sea Dragons online, visit their website XFLSeaDragons.com and @XFLSeaDragons on social media.
