Bump’s Breakdown: Why it’s a big week for Seahawks’ secondary

Oct 19, 2022, 4:40 PM

Before the Seahawks’ Week 6 game against the Arizona Cardinals, Seattle Sports host and Seahawks analyst Michael Bumpus stressed how important it would be for Seattle’s run defense to keep Arizona from beating them on the ground.

This week, he says the pressure is on a different position group in Seattle’s defense.

What Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III showed in breakout game

The Seahawks, who have moved into a three-way tie for first place in the NFC West, are heading to Los Angeles to take on the Chargers in a 1:25 p.m. game Sunday, and quarterback Justin Herbert will be a tough test for a defense that seemingly turned the corner in last week’s 19-9 win but has overall struggled throughout the 2022 season.

In his latest breakdown video for the Seattle Sports YouTube channel, Bumpus details why this will be a big week for the Seahawks’ secondary. The good news there is the defensive backs have been a bright spot, specifically rookie cornerback Tariq Woolen, who has made an interception in four straight games and was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week on Wednesday after recovering a fumble in addition to making a pick last Sunday.

Watch the video above or at this link, and catch Bump and Stacy from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every weekday on Seattle Sports. You can also hear Bump, a former WSU and NFL wide receiver, as the host of Hawks Live on Thursday nights as well on the Seahawks Radio Network pregame, halftime and postgame shows.

Coverage of the Hawks’ game against the Chargers will be on Seattle Sports 710 AM beginning at 10 a.m. Sunday with the pregame show.
