In need of some fresh bullpen arms after their 15-inning win on Tuesday, the Mariners have optioned outfielder Guillermo Heredia to Triple-A Tacoma. The club’s press release noted that a corresponding roster move will be made before Wednesday’s series finale with Detroit.
It’s safe to assume that a reliever will be called up to reinforce a taxed bullpen. The Mariners used seven of them over 10 innings in their 6-5 win over Detroit Wednesday.
Heredia, 25, heads back to Tacoma after hitting .250 (7 for 25) with one home run and three RBIs during his 12-game stint with the Mariners.
