The Mariners activated shortstop Ketel Marte from the 15-day disabled list Tuesday and optioned infielder Mike Freeman to Triple-A Tacoma.
Marte, who was placed on the disabled list on July 23 (retroactive to July 20) with mononucleosis, was penciled into the nine hole for Tuesday night’s game against the Tigers.
Marte appeared in four games on a rehab assignment with Short-A Everett and Tacoma, batting .286 with two runs, two doubles, a home run and two RBIs. In 74 games with Seattle this season, he is batting .273 with 36 runs, 17 doubles and 19 RBIs.
Freeman, who collected his first MLB hit and first RBI during his Mariners debut on Sunday, was claimed off waivers last week.
