Sounders’ playoff chances take a hit with 2-1 loss in Vancouver

The Vancouver Whitecaps downed the Seattle Sounders 2-1 on Saturday night thanks to a pair of goals in the first half.
Whitecaps 2, Sounders 1: Summary
Ryan Gauld found Pedro Vite for a score in the 29th minute that put the Whitecaps ahead, and Julian Gressel added a tally in the 37th minute with a strong strike from the top of the box.

Will Bruin scored for Seattle in the 89th minute, but that was all the team would muster offensively.

The loss leaves Seattle down to three matches to clinch a 14th straight MLS postseason appearance. The Sounders are in 10th place in the Western Conference with 39 points, four points back of the seventh and final playoff spot from the conference.
The Sounders next play Sept. 27 against Cincinnati.
