Seahawks Football 101: Vets show rookies how it’s done in Week 1 win
Sep 15, 2022, 10:18 AM
The Seattle Seahawks will be relying a lot on rookies from their 2022 NFL Draft class this season, which in a way is Pete Carroll’s team returning to its roots.

Some of the biggest defensive stars of the Carroll era played right away, including cornerback Richard Sherman, safety Earl Thomas and linebackers K.J. Wright and Bobby Wagner. That hasn’t been the case in more recent seasons as the Seahawks tried to maintain their status as a perennial contender, but with Seattle parting ways with Wagner and quarterback Russell Wilson this offseason, there is a renewed focus on building back up this year.
That meant that on Monday night when the Hawks hosted Wilson and the Denver Broncos at Lumen Field, there were rookies in key spots on defense – and there were rookie moments, too.
On the first episode of the 2022 season of Dave Wyman’s Football 101, the former NFL linebacker and current Seahawks Radio Network color commentator puts one of those rookie moments under the microscope. He doesn’t stop there, though, as he shows a similar play from the second half where a crew of veterans on Seattle’s defense – including Week 1 NFC Defensive Player of the Week Uchenna Nwosu – corrects the mistake. Watch Wyman break both plays down in the video at the top of this post or at this link.
