All eyes were on the quarterbacks once again when the Seahawks took the field for their preseason finale against the Dallas Cowboys, and after missing the second preseason game due to COVID-19, Drew Lock got to play a lot on Friday but he made a handful of mistakes, finishing the night with three interceptions.
Cowboys 27, Seahawks 26: Box Score
The Seahawks wrapped up the preseason with a 27-26 loss to the Cowboys in their final tune up game before having a few weeks before their Week 1 home opener. Overall, Seattle lost all three of its preseason contests this year.
So, let’s dive into what happened Friday night in Dallas.
What you need to know
• Geno Smith got the start at quarterback, the third time that’s happened this preseason. He also played just one series, leading a drive that resulted in a 53-yard field goal from Jason Myers.
Smith completed three of his six passes, but all three incompletions could have been caught. Will Dissly had a clear drop while rookie Dareke Young had two plays where the ball hit off both his hands.
• After sitting the first drive, Drew Lock played most of the game at quarterback for the Seahawks, taking over in the second drive of the first quarter and playing well into the fourth quarter.
Lock showed big-play ability with his arm and the ability to extend plays with his legs, but he also three three interceptions, one of which was a very ugly one that went right to a defender on a short throw to the left.

Lock also threw two that appeared to be the fault of the receivers. On Lock’s first pick, Dee Eskridge appeared to not come back to the ball like he should have. On his third interception, Lock targeted Aaron Fuller over the middle, but the UW product couldn’t keep his feet or secure the ball. It bounced in the air and landed in a defender’s hands. After those three interceptions, Lock finishes the preseason with four turnovers in two games.
Lock led five scoring drives, including a 35-yard touchdown pass to Penny Hart. The other scoring drives resulted in a Dallas touchdown and three Myers field goals.

Lock played behind a good chunk of the Seahawks’ No. 1 offensive line early, but spent much of the evening with backup linemen and throwing to reserve receivers and tight ends.
• Star receiver Tyler Lockett played a bit during Seattle’s first drive, catching two passes for 35 yards, both of which went for first downs. Lockett is coming off three straight 1,000-yard seasons. Those were his lone targets and receptions this offseason. Fellow star receiver DK Metcalf did not play on Friday.
• Defensive tackle Myles Adams was a standout on defense for the Seahawks, making some big splash plays including a big run stuff, multiple pressures, two quarterback hits and combining with Alton Robinson on a sack.
• Running back DeeJay Dallas again played well in preseason action, scoring a touchdown on a drive where he got touches on nine of 11 plays.
