Noah Williams transferring from WSU men’s hoops to UW Huskies

Noah Williams, a 6-foot-5 guard who was third in scoring for the WSU Cougars men’s basketball team this season, is heading to Montlake to join the rival UW Huskies.
The junior from Seattle announced he is transferring to Washington in an Instagram post Monday afternoon.
Williams entered the transfer portal after helping WSU reach the semifinals of the NIT last month, where the Cougars lost to Texas A&M at Madison Square Garden in New York.
Williams shared a previous Instagram post last week in which he thanked WSU coach Kyle Smith and others for his time in Pullman while announcing he was entering the transfer portal.
“From the bottom of my heart I would like to thank Coach Smith and the entire WSU Cougar family for showing me nothing but love and support my last 3 years out here in Pullman,” Williams wrote.
An O’Dea product, Williams was one of the biggest contributors for Washington State in 2021-22, averaging 9.5 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.2 assists and 1.1 steals per game. His shooting percentages all took a dip from the season before, however – he shot 40.6% from the field, 37.9% from 3-point land and 80.4% on free throws as a sophomore but 33.2% on field goals, 26.2% on threes and 71.6% from the charity stripe in 2021-22.

Williams’ announcement was met with a lot of interest on social media Monday, particularly for a moment from a February 2020 win for WSU over the UW Huskies in Seattle in which he proclaimed “This is my city.” With his transfer to the Dawgs, it now very much rings true.
