What the Mariners bring north: Shannon Drayer breaks down roster
As expected, a batting order led off by All-Star second baseman Adam Frazier will back starting pitcher Robbie Ray, the 2021 American League Cy Young Award winner, for the 1:10 p.m. game in Minneapolis against the Minnesota Twins that will air live on Seattle Sports 710 AM.
Each of the Mariners’ big offseason additions on offense are starting Friday, including Frazier, Jesse Winker in left field and hitting third, and Eugenio Suárez at third base and hitting fifth.
Also worth noting is top prospect Julio Rodríguez in center field and hitting seventh in his MLB debut. With Rodríguez and Winker both playing in the field, second-year outfielder Jarred Kelenic will be the DH against Twins starter Joe Ryan.
