Wait no longer, Seattle Kraken fans. Your local NHL team has finally hit the ice.
The Kraken opened their inaugural NHL season in Las Vegas in a Tuesday night contest on ESPN against perhaps one of their top rivals, the Vegas Golden Knights.
While Seattle is the 32nd franchise in the league, the Golden Knights were No. 31, joining the NHL for the 2017-18 season. Now they’re the Kraken’s bigger brothers in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference, and they set the tone early with two quick goals on Tuesday night en route to a 4-3 win over Seattle.

The Kraken start the season with a five-game road trip before opening Climate Pledge Arena at the former site of KeyArena at Seattle Center on Oct. 23 for their home opener against the Vancouver Canucks, their nearest rival in the Pacific Division.
