Mariners catcher Mike Zunino’s return to the big leagues is certainly worth a second look, which is what we did on Sunday morning’s pre-game show.
Mike Blowers, Aaron Goldsmith, Rick Rizzs, Gary Hill and myself discussed Zunino’s two home run, one walk performance and everything that led up to it on the “Mariners Roundtable.” Blowers had some interesting insight into just how tough a path it must have been for a player with only two years of Major League experience to take and I explained the Mariners’ decision to take the step back.
For the “Mariners Clubhouse Insider,” I put together a piece that included the home runs calls — all of them — from the previous night, and Zunino’s thoughts on the home runs and his current approach.
It was a good win for the Mariners and a great start for Zunino who we should see in the lineup Monday in Houston.
