Wednesday is an important day for the Seahawks.

Defensive end Aldon Smith has his arraignment in New Orleans. He has been charged with second degree assault for an alleged fight at a coffee shop in Louisiana. The charge could lead to an eight-year jail term.
The Seahawks seem optimistic Smith could be available for training camp, but no one will know until Wednesday. His addition to the team would be a big bonus. He offers pass rush and play-making ability, but if he gets the formal charge it’s not out of the question that he could be suspended by the NFL.
Smith didn’t do anything during Seahawks OTAs or minicamp but was at the team headquarters. Head coach Pete Carroll said the team was letting him get into shape and get accustomed to the area.
As you may know, wide receiver Josh Gordon applied for reinstatement from his indefinite suspension. He reportedly passed his drug test for three months, getting tested three times a week. He’s a free agent, and while we don’t know if he still lives in the Seattle area, he would be a nice fit to come back. He’s liked it here and quarterback Russell Wilson likes him.
The Seahawks’ roster would be better if Gordon can sign a one-year deal to rejoin the team and compete for the third receiver spot, and the defense would be better being able to use Smith in the defensive end rotation.
Wednesday will be an interesting day.
