True to Scott Servais’ word, shortstop Ketel Marte is leading off for the Mariners as they face a left-handed starting pitcher in Tampa Bay’s Drew Smyly on Wednesday.
Seattle is moving forward with Marte hitting first against lefties and center fielder Leonys Martin taking the top spot vs. righties. Martin is batting eighth, while previous leadoff man Norichika Aoki is hitting ninth.
Nathan Karns is on the mound for the Mariners against his former team in the 4:10 game, which will air live on 710 ESPN Seattle. The pregame show begins at 3.
