Seahawks Football 101: Why CB Tyson Campbell should be Seattle’s top pick

Apr 29, 2021, 1:32 AM

With the Seahawks owning just three picks for this weekend’s NFL Draft, there’s a bit of an expectation that their first selection – set for 56th overall in Friday’s second round – will be traded to acquire more choices later in the draft.

But what if the right player is available at that spot?

What Carroll, Schneider said about Russell Wilson offseason drama

Dave Wyman of 710 ESPN Seattle’s Wyman and Bob, who is a former NFL linebacker and the current Seahawks Radio Network color commentator, has a player in mind for that No. 56 overall pick: Georgia’s Tyson Campbell.

As a 6-foot-1, 190-pound cornerback who can run the 40-yard dash in 4.4 seconds, Campbell fits the bill for what the Seahawks like at the position. There’s also reason to believe that Seattle may be targeting cornerback in the draft, as while they have enough players to be set at the position for 2021, none of those players are locked up long-term.

In a special draft edition of Football 101, Wyman breaks down a few plays from Campbell’s college career to explain what there is to like about Campbell and why he would be a good fit for the Seahawks.

Also in the video, Wyman details what goes into a draft for an NFL team as well as what he learned from his experience trying out for a regional scout role with the New Orleans Saints.
