The question of whether the Seahawks would add another option at cornerback this offseason has apparently been answered.

Seahawks offseason tracker: Who’s joined, who’s still available

Veteran cornerback Pierre Desir has agreed to sign a one-year contract with the Seahawks, according to NFL Network reporter Mike Garofolo and the Twitter account of Desir’s agency, EnterSports Management.

Desir, 30, was a fourth-round NFL Draft pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2014. He has played for five teams in the NFL – two seasons with the Browns, one with the Chargers, three with the Colts, and then parts of last season with both the Jets (nine games) and Ravens (three games). He was also on the Seahawks’ practice squad in 2016 but was released by Seattle just prior to the 2017 season.

In 2020, the 6-foot-1, 192-pound Desir started eight games (all with New York), making three interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, eight passes defensed, 49 combined tackles and two tackles for loss.

Last year was his second straight season in which he made three interceptions, which is his career-high. He has eight total picks over his seven years pro, with at least one in each of the past four seasons and all coming since 2017.

Desir was born in Haiti and played high school football in St. Louis, and he split his college career between Washburn University and Lindenwood University, both of which are Division II schools.

The Seahawks signed cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon earlier this offseason after starter Shaquill Griffin left in free agency to sign with Jacksonville.
