Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll said during his Friday morning show on KIRO that wide receiver Sidney Rice should play on Sunday despite sitting out practices on both Wednesday and Thursday this week.

“I think he’ll be fine,” Carroll said. “He’s going to go today. We did rest him Wednesday and Thursday. He’s just banged up in general — there’s not one thing that is keeping him down. But we want to see if we can get him feeling a little bit better.”

Rice continues to be listed on the daily practice report with a knee injury. Since the start of the season, Rice has also suffered a both a shoulder and a foot injury. He was sidelined with a concussion during the Baltimore Ravens game.

“He’s such a competitor that he’s going to play for sure,” Carroll said. “I’m hoping that he’ll get enough work in today where he can fit in and we can get his timing in and all that.”

Rice was a full participant in practice on Friday and is listed as probable to play on Sunday.

Asked about all the missed practice reps, Rice said that he isn’t concerned as long as he is mentally prepared and continues his conditioning.

“I know the playbook,” Rice said after practice. “As long as the plays are getting installed and I’m out there while they’re doing it getting my mental reps and not wandering off into other places – I think I’ll be fine.”

Carroll said he is always worried when players miss time in practice, but is confident that Rice is ready to go come game day.

“Sidney knows his stuff and he was with it all week long,” Carroll explained. “He’s not a guy who’s just sitting on the sidelines and not paying attention, so he’s very much in to it. You put a couple weeks like this together it’ll catch up with you, but I think he’s ready to go.”

Wide receiver Ben Obomanu is also probable to play on Sunday after both an ankle and a knee injury had him somewhat limited in practice this week.

As for quarterback Tarvaris Jackson, he had his most complete practice in weeks.

“I can see that he needs it, he needs the work,” Carroll said. “He was a little bit rusty this week at some times and it only stands to reason – he’s had so few days on the practice field. So the fact that he got out there today and got a whole boatload of plays and looks at stuff in the red zone and all that that he didn’t get last week, it should help him.

“But that’s just one day in a month or six weeks or whatever it’s been, so he needs to find a regular routine to help him play at his best. We’re doing the best we can. He’s been doing everything he can, so it should help him.”
