Seahawks rookie guard John Moffitt has been suspended four games for violating the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances.

The league announced the suspension on Tuesday.

Moffitt was placed on injured reserve after damaging ligaments in his knee during a Week 10 win over the Ravens. He can serve the suspension while on IR, but will forfeit his pay for the final four games of this season. According to Brian McIntyre of Mac’s Football Blog, Moffitt’s suspension will cost him $88,235 of his $375,000 base salary.

Moffitt, a third-round pick, started nine games for the Seahawks before his injury.

Notes

The Seahawks have signed guard Mike Gibson and placed left tackle Russell Okung on injured reserve.

Gibson, 26, started eight games for the Seahawks last season, appearing in 14. Okung suffered a season-ending pectoral injury during the Seahawks’ Week 13 win over the Eagles.
