In need of help at guard after releasing starter Robert Gallery last month, the Seahawks had former Cardinal Deuce Lutui in for a free-agent visit, Howard Balzer of 101 ESPN St. Louis reported Monday.

Lutui, who turns 29 next month, was a five-year starter for the Cardinals from 2006 to 2010. He signed a two-year contract with the Bengals prior to last season, but the deal was nullified when Lutui weighed in at 381 pounds and failed his physical. He then returned to the Cardinals on a one-year deal, playing in 15 games with zero starts.
Lutui’s listed weight is 338 pounds.
Gallery’s release created an opening at left guard for the Seahawks. Seattle signed Frank Omiyale and re-signed Paul McQuistan. Both have starting experience at guard and tackle. Right guard John Moffitt had offseason knee surgery and is expected to be ready when the season begins.
Lutui was a second-round pick in 2006 out of USC, where he played for Seahawks coach Pete Carroll. He also worked out for the 49ers last month.
