How about Blount as a contingency plan for Seahawks?

John Schneider counts Buccaneers general manager Mark Dominik among his closest friends in the NFL. Their relationship, Schneider said, was instrumental in the trade that sent tight end Kellen Winslow to Seattle in May.

That connection is noteworthy now as the Seahawks brace for the possibility of the NFL suspending Pro Bowl running back Marshawn Lynch for his recent DUI arrest and subsequent charge. If Lynch is leveled with a lengthy suspension, the Seahawks might be looking for a veteran running back with a similar style to temporarily take his place – and the Bucs have one they might be willing to trade.

Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times writes that LeGarrette Blount has displayed over the last two seasons a lack of commitment that was “startling” to the previous coaching staff. It’s hard to imagine that attitude flying with new coach Greg Schiano, who has a reputation as a disciplinarian. The Bucs also drafted a running back in the first round.

So if Lynch is suspended and Blount if available, would it make sense for the Seahawks to make a trade with Tampa Bay? Brock Huard and Mike Salk discuss that question in Monday’s Wrap Up video.
