Some familiar jersey numbers, including receiver Terrell Owens’ 10, were a glaring absence from Monday afternoon’s practice at the Seahawks’ headquarters. Quarterback Tarvaris Jackson’s trade to Buffalo and the release of corner Coye Francies brought Seattle’s roster to the required 75 for now.

Russell Wilson took the majority of snaps as the newly-named starting quarterback for the regular season. Wilson told the media after practice he didn’t do a whole lot of celebrating when coach Pete Carroll gave him the news about winning the starting job. Wilson said he phoned his family, then he and his wife had dinner out and later watched his favorite television show, “Entourage.”

Matt Flynn did some light throwing at the beginning of practice, then watched the second half with ice on his right elbow. Carroll expects Flynn to do more passing Tuesday and Wednesday with a goal of playing some Thursday night against Oakland.

Seahawks fans will not see Mashawn Lynch carry the football in the last preseason game. Lynch was not on the practice field Monday. Carroll said Lynch was receiving treatment on his sore back.

John Moffitt got some work at right guard, just a couple weeks removed from surgery to remove floating particles in his left elbow. Carroll said there is a chance Moffitt could see action against the Raiders.

Defensive end Greg Scruggs, safety Chris Maragos, receiver Doug Baldwin, tight end Kellen Winslow and linebacker Matt McCoy were not in pads, resting minor soreness or injuries. McCoy did extra work with trainers after practice to test out his right knee.

Earl Thomas continues to be a one-man wrecking crew in 11-on-11 drills. The speedy safety had two more interceptions and batted away a pass near the sideline, then playfully chest-bumped the official.

Carroll was asked about the release of Owens and emphasized that it had nothing to do with attitude. Carroll said he was a terrific teammate and that he’d be surprised if Owens is not given a shot by another team.
