Wide receiver Charly Martin suffered a bruised lung in the Seahawks’ regular-season opener on Sunday, and the team is still awaiting word on the severity of left tackle Russell Okung’s knee injury.
Coach Pete Carroll made those announcements during his weekly conversation with “Brock and Salk” on Monday.
Okung limped off the field in the fouth quarter – a sight that has been all too familiar for Seahawks fans – and was replaced by Frank Omiyale. His injury was reported by Jason La Canfora of CBSSports.com to be a bone bruise on his left knee. Carroll didn’t confirm the exact nature of the injury, but said that X-rays were negative and that the team had not seen results of an MRI.
Martin was also injured in the fourth quarter, suffering the bruised lung when he hit the ground while trying to make a catch in the corner of the end zone. Carroll said Martin didn’t make the trip back to Seattle.
“It’s serious. It’s going to be a couple weeks anyway, but it’s not threatening in any way,” Carroll said. “But he had to stay there.”
Receiver Doug Baldwin lost his two front teeth while trying to make a diving catch in the end zone in the fourth quarter, Carroll said.
Update: Carroll confirmed during his afternoon press conference that Okung has a bone bruise and could play Sunday against Dallas.
