Some notes and thoughts after watching the Seahawks beat the Jets 28-7 at CenturyLink Field:

The lead. The Seahawks will head into the bye week at 6-4 overall and 5-0 at home thanks to a dominant defensive performance and an offense that overcame some early mistakes from quarterback Russell Wilson. Seattle’s defense gets a shutout — impressive even though it came against a lousy offense — and a reprieve from questions about some struggles in recent weeks. Their offense scored at least 28 points for the third consecutive week.

The good. Golden Tate and Sidney Rice each caught touchdown passes, Tate’s coming on Seattle’s opening possession when he made a tremendous leaping catch over a defender. Tate also threw a touchdown pass to Rice. Marshawn Lynch topped 100 yards for the fourth straight week and sixth time this season while also going over 1,000 yards for the second consecutive season. He scored on a 1-yard run. The Seahawks forced three turnovers, including one via a Richard Sherman interception when the Jets were threatening to score in the first quarter. Sherman later sacked Mark Sanchez, forcing a fumble that Jason Jones recovered. Seattle allowed just 185 yards of total offense and only two third-down conversions in 11 tries.

The bad. In the first quarter, Wilson held onto the ball a bit too long and was sacked, resulting in a fumble that the Jets recovered and returned for their only score. Wilson’s second fumble was recovered by Robert Turbin. Marshawn Lynch also fumbled. It was his first lost fumble of the season.

Injury notes. The Seahawks did not appear to suffer any notable injuries.
