With an additional day since the last time Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll provided an update on the status of Pro Bowler Jamal Adams, Carroll had a little bit more information Tuesday on his star strong safety.

Stacy Rost’s Takeaways: Pair of Seahawks quietly vital to 12-win season

“He’s going to work through the week and see what he can get done and see if he’s OK,” Carroll said in a press conference Tuesday afternoon. “We’ll have to wait all the way up until game day to figure that out.”

Adams, who has battled right shoulder and groin injuries this season, injured his left shoulder in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s win over the 49ers. He was shown on the sideline throughout the rest of the game on the FOX TV broadcast, his body language appearing to be impacted by the possibility of injury preventing him from playing in the playoffs.

Adams, who played the first three years of his career with the New York Jets, has spoken this year about being excited to get the chance to play in the postseason with Seattle.

The Seahawks open the playoffs at 1:40 p.m. Saturday at Lumen Field against the Los Angeles Rams. The game will air on 710 ESPN Seattle and KIRO Radio 97.3 FM beginning with the pregame show at 10 a.m.

Let’s go through a few more injury updates Carroll provided Tuesday.

• Defensive tackle Jarran Reed, who suffered an oblique strain Sunday, is in a similar situation to Adams when it comes to availability for Saturday’s game.

“We’re going to be real careful with him during the week and see how he goes day to day,” Carroll said. “He’s much better than he was on the weekend, so there’s cause for optimism there.”

• Running back Carlos Hyde is set to play Saturday after illness prevented him from practicing or playing last week.

“He’s ready to go. Fresh legs. He’s cranking and ready,” Carroll said.

• Right tackle Brandon Shell is good to go after missing the 49ers game while on the COVID-19/restricted list due to a close contact of his contracting the virus. Shell never tested positive for COVID-19, and Carroll indicated it was a bit of a blessing in disguise for Shell to have the chance to further heal a high ankle sprain that has bothered him for the past month.

“First off, exercising all the caution, we looked after Brandon, and really he never did catch the virus and all that. He bounces right back, comes to us, and we’re really happy about that,” Carroll said. “Just coming back to make sure that his ankle is as good as it can be, this week would have helped him… so he looks great. Should be full speed and ready, and we love having him back out there.”
