The Seahawks are not only 10-4, but many of their players are immensely popular in the eyes of NFL fans across the world.

O’Neil: Ready or not, Seahawks’ high-wire act is playoff bound

The fan voting portion for the NFL Pro Bowl has closed, and the Seahawks came out of that with five players who received the most votes at their respective positions in the NFC.

Unsurprisingly, star quarterback Russell Wilson, receiver DK Metcalf and perennial All-Pro middle linebacker Bobby Wagner came out of the fan vote on top. Wilson received 335,156 votes, which was the second-highest total in the NFL behind Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, giving Wilson the most votes in the NFC.

Wilson is having a career year in many regards, and already has more passing touchdowns (38) than he’s had in any of his previous eight seasons. He also needs just 419 more passing yards to set a new career high.

Metcalf earned the most votes of any receiver in the NFL with 271,568 and Wagner received more votes than any interior linebacker in the league with 204,059. For comparison’s sake, Houston Texans linebacker Zach Cunningham led the AFC in interior linebacker votes with 79,334.

Metcalf has emerged as a true No. 1 receiver in his second NFL season, and ranks fourth in the NFL with 1,223 yards through 14 games. he also has 10 touchdowns and is 64 yards behind Steve Largent for the most receiving yards by a Seahawks wide receiver in team history. Largent set the record in 1985 with 1,287.

Wagner has spent 2020 doing Bobby Wagner things. Through 14 games, Wagner is sixth in the NFL with 126 tackles. He also has three sacks, a fumble recovery and eight pass deflections.

Wagner and Wilson along with cornerback Shaquill Griffin were the Seahawks’ three Pro Bowl representatives last year. The Seahawks coaching staff coached the NFC team in last year’s game as well.

Wilson, Wagner and Metcalf were joined by two other Seahawks teammates in receiving the most votes at their positions, and those other two players may be a bit of a surprise.

First was free safety Quandre Diggs, who received 116,065 votes. Diggs leads the Seahawks with four interceptions and he also has nine pass defenses.

The final player on the list is arguably the most surprising, and that’s fullback/special teams ace Nick Bellore, who topped all special teams players in the NFL with 132,220. Each team had one special teams player who’s not a kicker, punter or long snapper that could receive votes. Bellore is one of many special teamers who have played well for the Seahawks and their great special teams this year, and he has 12 tackles on special teams this year.

The fan vote is one-third of the vote for electing Pro Bowl players, with the other two thirds coming from players and coaches. The 2021 Pro Bowl roster will be announced Monday evening. For more information on the Pro Bowl and the fan vote, visit this link.
