The Seahawks announced Friday that nine of their 10 draft picks are under contract as are the 13 players they signed as undrafted free agents. Running back Zac Brooks, a seventh-round pick, is the lone drafted player who remains unsigned.
It’s not unusual that the Seahawks already have most of their draft class under contract less than a week after the draft. As noted in this story about Seattle agreeing to terms with second-round pick Jarran Reed, the slotted salary system has made the signing of rookie contracts largely a formality.
Also a formality: the Seahawks’ announcement of the 13 undrafted free agents they’ve signed. General manager John Schneider told “Brock and Salk” earlier this week that Seattle had added 13 UDFAs and mentioned some of them by name, therefore confirming that Seattle has signed those particular players. The rest of the UDFAs had already been reported to have signed with Seattle.
Here they are:
QB Trevone Boykin, TCU
FB/DT Brandin Bryant, Florida Atantic
CB DeAndre Elliott, Colorado State
TE George Fant, Western Kentucky
DE Christian French, Oregon
DT Lars Koht, Florida International
LB Steve Longa, Rutgers
RB Tre Madden, USC
T Lene Maiava, Arizona
WR Tanner McEvoy, Wisconsin
DE Montese Overton, East Carolina
DE David Perkins, Illinois State
SS Tyvis Powell, Ohio State
