A stellar draft class that could include both the offensive and defensive rookies of the year made Seahawks general manager John Schneider a candidate for the NFL’s top executive of 2012.
His peers instead favored the jobs done by Colts general manager Ryan Grigson and Broncos executive vice president John Elway.
Schneider finished third in voting for Sporting News’ NFL Executive of the Year award, behind the runner-up, Elway, and the winner, Grigson.
The Sporting News announced the award Monday.
Coaches and executives voted on the award. Grigson received nine votes, one more than Elway. Schneider received three votes, while the Redskins’ Bruce Allen and the Texans’ Rick Smith each got two.
In the video below, Brock Huard and Mike Salk offer their thoughts on Schneider’s worthiness for the award.
