Although the Seattle City Council’s arena vote failed to pass Monday afternoon, there is a community leader who is getting behind the effort: Russell Wilson.
The Seahawks quarterback tweeted Tuesday night that Seattle sports fans should start a petition to bring the Sonics back to the Emerald City.
Baffling this amazing city doesn’t have the #SuperSonics Bring them back! Seattle Loves Basketball!

Wilson has let his Twitter voice be heard on the subject in the past, promoting an Atlanta Hawks move to Seattle in 2014.
710 ESPN Seattle’s “Brock and Salk” mentioned that the timing of the recent tweet is odd, but Brock Huard says Wilson, as much as anybody, realizes what sports and community is all about.
“He’s felt that parade, he’s felt what this community has done getting together,” Huard said. “Maybe it is just a day late and a dollar short.”
