The Seahawks have signed tight end Darren Fells, a former professional basketball player who last played football in high school.

Fells stands 6-foot-7 and weighs 280 pounds. He played college basketball at UC Irvine and according to the NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, who first reported the deal, he’s played professionally in Argentina, Mexico, France, Finland and Belgium.

Fells is the younger brother of Patriots tight end Daniel Fells. Darren Fells’ bio on UC Irvine’s website says he was an all-state tight end at Fullerton High School in California.

Fells signed a three-year deal after working out for the Seahawks Tuesday, according to Rapoport.
