Coming off their Week 6 bye, the Seahawks overall have a pretty clean bill of health heading into Sunday night’s matchup with the Cardinals. The issue, however, is Seattle will be without at least one starter and possibly two in Arizona.

Moore Predicts: In thriller, Seahawks will top Cardinals in OT

For the third game in a row, All-Pro safety Jamal Adams is out of action with a groin injury. Starting left guard Mike Iupati, who missed Week 5’s win over the Minnesota Vikings, is questionable with a back injury. Those two are the only players listed on Seattle’s injury report on Friday.

Adams, who the Seahawks acquired from the Jets for two first-round picks, a third-round pick and safety Bradley McDougald, was knocked out of action Week 3 against the Dallas Cowboys and hasn’t played since.

There was hope that, with the help of the bye week, Adams would return to action for the Week 7 divisional matchup, but Adams’ return is delayed by at least one more week. He has yet to practice this week, but head coach Pete Carroll said during his Friday press conference that Adams is “really close” to being back in action.

“We want to make sure and get it right and the consensus is it’s better to wait until next week and I anticipate that he will be practicing next week,” he said.

Iupati was also questionable for Week 5 and ultimately didn’t play. Carroll didn’t sound too optimistic about Iupati’s status for Sunday, saying the veteran guard struggled with the back injury this week.

“It has nagged him a little bit, so I’m concerned about that,” Carroll said.

Starting in place of Iupati in Week 5 was Jordan Simmons, who had been playing some snaps the first four games to give Iupati rest and to try and keep him healthy.

The Seahawks will be getting a few notable names back, such as 2020 first-round linebacker Jordyn Brooks, who, like Adams, was injured in Week 3 and hasn’t played since. Brooks had a knee sprain, but will be active on Sunday in Arizona. Second-year linebacker Cody Barton started in Brooks’ weakside linebacker spot in Weeks 4 and 5, and Carroll wouldn’t say who gets the starting nod this week.

“You’ll have to wait and see on that one, but (Brooks) had a great week. He really had a great week,” Carroll said. “He looked full speed. We ramped him up as the week went on, he got more reps as he could handle the work and he’s definitely going to play in this football game and I expect that he will play considerably.”

Additionally, veteran running back Carlos Hyde is back after missing two games with a shoulder injury. Hyde, who is Chris Carson’s backup, has one rushing score this season.

One player who isn’t injured who Carroll brought up is veteran defensive tackle Damon “Snacks” Harrison, who signed with Seattle’s practice squad recently. Harrison could be added to the gameday roster without leaving the practice squad, but Carroll said he’s not ready to play yet.

“He’s making progress. We’re on a schedule and we’re just going to go one week at a time,” he said. “We’re going to leave him home this week to do all the work he’s been doing … He’s still on the road back.”

“He’s just working to get back in shape and his conditioning is right and all of that as good as we can make it,” Carroll added later in the press conference. “He’s working on his weight … So it’s a process. He’s going through a process of getting right.”

For the Cardinals, the most notable player on the injury report is star receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who is questionable with an ankle injury. The ankle has been bothering Hopkins basically all season, and he leads the NFL in receiving yards with 601, so it would be a bit of a surprise if he didn’t suit up.
