A look back at the headlines from June of 2012 provides a reminder of how far the Seahawks have come in a year.

Sidney Rice had bulked up in an attempt stave off the injuries that had forced him to miss 23 games in five seasons. Concerns about his health contributed to the overall uncertainty with Seattle’s receiver corps. Now, the question is whether there will be enough passes to go around after Rice showed he can stay on the field, Golden Tate emerged as a consistent threat and Seattle added the ever-explosive Percy Harvin.

Bobby Wagner was learning the ins and outs of Seattle’s defense, a difficult transition because of the relatively simple scheme in which he played at Utah State. He entered training camp last year still competing with Barrett Ruud to be the Seahawks’ starting middle linebacker. He’ll enter training camp this year with a full season of starting experience under his belt and a runner-up finish in voting for the league’s defensive rookie of the year on his resume.

Another rookie, Russell Wilson, had turned heads during OTAs and minicamp, but he hadn’t done enough at that point to separate himself in a three-way quarterback competition. He hadn’t yet proven to be the best quarterback on Seattle’s roster. Now, there’s debate about his potential ascension into the league’s upper echelon of quarterbacks.

Consider that food for thought before the next edition of “Hawk Talk” with Danny O’Neil, which is set for Wednesday at 12:30.
