The Seahawks have released tight end Michael Palmer, who was signed last month to add depth to a position that was lacking experience and healthy bodies.

Seattle signed defensive tackle Martin Parker in a corresponding roster move on Tuesday.

With starter Zach Miller on the Physically Unable to Perform list and Anthony McCoy on injured reserve, Palmer was the only healthy tight end on Seattle’s roster who had caught a pass in a regular-season NFL game. Miller is expected to return sometime during the preseason, leaving Sean McGrath – a 2012 undrafted free agent – and rookie fifth-round pick Luke Willson as the two likeliest candidates to be the backup.

Parker signed with the Giants as an undrafted free agent out of Richmond in 2011 and spent that season on New York’s injured reserve. He has yet to appear in a regular-season game.
