It has become increasingly apparent this offseason that the fences have been mended between the Seahawks and strong safety Kam Chancellor following a contract dispute that led to an extended holdout last year. It should surprise no one then that Chancellor is present Monday for the first day of the team’s voluntary offseason workout program.
Media is not permitted to cover the workouts until organized team activities begin next month, but the Seahawks posted some photos to their Twitter account, including one showing Chancellor walking through the team’s headquarters alongside secondary coach Andre Curtis and backup safety Kelcie McCray.
Another photo shows Jimmy Graham wearing a sleeve on his right leg while walking with fellow tight ends Luke Willson and Cooper Helfet. Graham is rehabbing from surgery to repair a torn patellar tendon in his right knee. Wide receiver Kevin Smith is the player who’s on his back with a leg in the air in another photo.
Not pictured is defensive lineman Michael Bennett, so it’s not known if he is in attendance as he deals with a contract dispute of his own. Bennett changed agents earlier this offseason, presumably with an eye toward securing the new deal he’s been seeking since last year.
It would not be surprising if Bennett has chosen to sit out this portion of the offseason workout program, which is voluntary. Players are not contractually required to attend until mandatory minicamp, which the Seahawks will hold June 14-16. OTAs begin on May 23 and conclude on June 9.
Notes
• The Seahawks announced their deal with cornerback Brandon Browner, whose return to the team was first reported on Sunday. Seattle also announced that four players signed their tenders: center Patrick Lewis, tight end Cooper Helfet, cornerback Mohammed Seisay and safety Steven Terrell. Lewis is a restricted free agent and was reportedly assigned the low tender worth $1.617 million while the others are exclusive-rights free agents.
