NEW YORK – Super Bowl Sunday has arrived, and the weather in the New York area six hours before kickoff is mild compared to the frigid conditions some feared.
It’s 47 degrees and overcast in Manhattan, with not much wind to speak of. It feels like Seattle around this time of year.
It’s a few degrees warmer just across the Hudson River in East Rutherford, N.J., where the Seahawks and Broncos will kick off Super Bowl XLVIII at 6:30 p.m. EST. The game-time temperature, according to Weather.com, is expected to be 44 degrees with winds at 4 mph and a 20 percent chance of rain. By 10 p.m., it’s expected to drop to 39 degrees.
