This year at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner there will be jokes in jest about the president – but there will also be a touch of Seattle.
Seattle Seahawk Richard Sherman will attend the annual star-studded event.
Since Sherman’s infamous post-game rant, he was listed to Time Magazine’s 100 Most Influential people list, he talked with students at Harvard about race, and has made a handful of post-Super Bowl TV appearances.
President Obama called Seattle coach Pete Carroll and invited the team to meet him at the White House. Since the team hasn’t traveled to D.C. yet, Sherman will likely be the first Hawk to shake the commander-in-chief’s hand.
Sherman will be joined by fellow NFL players Kirk Cousins, Washington Redskins; Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys; Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers; Adrian Peterson, Minnesota Vikings; and Andrew Luck, Indianapolis Colts.
Former Seattleite Joel McHale was tapped to host the May 3rd dinner in February.
