President Obama will honor the Seahawks next week in a ceremony at the White House commemorating Seattle’s Super Bowl championship.

The White House Press Office says the president will welcome the Seahawks next Wednesday, May 21, some time in the afternoon.

The visit continues a tradition begun by President Obama of honoring teams not only for their championships, but for their contributions to the community, the White House said in a release.

There’s no official word which players and coaches will be making the trip. But we can safely say tackle Michael Bowie will be among the attendees and is looking forward to it, based on his tweets Wednesday afternoon:

Welcoming an entire Super Bowl winning team is a tradition dating back to 1980, when President Jimmy Carter hosted the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates, who had won the World Series a few months earlier. Numerous reports from the time say he was looking to boost his flagging numbers in Pennsylvania. It obviously didn’t help.
