Mariners manager Eric Wedge will spend another night in the hospital while doctors try to determine the cause of dizzy spells he experienced before Monday’s game, according to 710Sports.com’s Shannon Drayer.

General manager Jack Zdurniencik told reporters Tuesday that Wedge is in good spirits and resting a day after he had to be helped off the field during batting practice.

Zduriencik said Monday that he expected Wedge would return to the dugout Tuesday, but Wedge will remain in the hospital to await results of tests and undergo further testing.

“He is resting peacefully,” bench coach Robby Thompson told reporters Tuesday. “He has been up and down a little bit. The dizziness is not as bad, and we’re just hoping that continues to get better each hour. Hopefully we’ll know little bit more later on today or after the game this evening. We’ll just have to wait and see.”

Thompson managed the Mariners in Wedge’s absence in Monday’s 2-1 win over Cleveland and will do so again Tuesday.
