In case you need a reminder of the severity of the arm injury that Seahawks cornerback Jeremy Lane sustained in the Super Bowl, check out the photo he posted to Twitter Tuesday night. It’s embedded below. Note the scar that runs the length of Lane’s left forearm.
Lane was injured while returning a first-quarter interception, gruesomely fracturing his left wrist when he tried to use it to cushion his landing. He also tore his ACL on the tackle that upended him.
Coach Pete Carroll said in May that “another concern” arose with Lane’s arm and that it will take longer to heal than initially anticipated. Carroll said Lane should nonetheless be ready for training camp, which begins July 31, but the timing of his injuries and the typical timetable for recoveries from ACL surgeries alone would make that a challenge. If Lane isn’t ready to begin the regular season he could be placed on the Physically Unable to Perform list, in which case he’d have to miss at least the first six games.
