OAKLAND, Calif. – The second game of the Seattle Mariners’ series with the Oakland Athletics was postponed Friday night due to field conditions.
The make-up date of the game has not been officially announced, but it will be part of a doubleheader during a series in Oakland later in the season.
Though it was not raining at Oakland’s O.co Coliseum at the scheduled start time of 7:05 p.m., the grounds crew did not cover the field during rain overnight and could not prepare the field in time for the game.
The series is set to continue at 1:05 p.m. Saturday.
Chris Young was set to make his Mariners debut on the mound Friday, but Felix Hernandez will start Saturday game, manager Lloyd McClendon said.
