The Mariners traded struggling pitcher Hector Noesi to division rival Texas for cash considerations or a player to be named later Saturday.
Noesi, 27, made two appearances this season for the Mariners, but the right-hander was designated for assignment April 4 after yielding three runs over an inning of work for the team.
In his three years with Seattle, Noesi posted a 2-14 record and 6.13 ERA in 36 games, including 19 starts. He was acquired by the team along with catcher Jesus Montero from the Yankees for pitcher Michael Pineda on Jan. 23, 2012.
Beavan to start Tuesday
Manager Lloyd McClendon said Saturday that Blake Beavan will be recalled from Triple-A Tacoma to start Tuesday’s game at Texas. Beavan will take the place of James Paxton, who hit the 15-day disabled list earlier this week with a strained lat.
Taijuan Walker, who was also considered for the rotation vacancy, will be promoted to Tacoma from Double-A Jackson, McClendon said. Walker, 21, started three games for the Mariners late last season, but right shoulder inflammation cut his spring training short.
