Mariners Talk: Logan Gilbert interview and the news from Winter Meetings
Dec 13, 2019, 3:53 PM
The Mariners are back from the MLB Winter Meetings, and, well, not a lot happened. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t things to talk about regarding the team.
A quiet M’s offseason? Volume turns up with Seager, Haniger rumors
Before the meetings began, Seattle general manager Jerry Dipoto pulled the trigger on his biggest trade yet this offseason, sending catcher Omar Narváez to the Milwaukee Brewers for a prospect and draft pick. At the meetings, Dipoto shed light on what made the Narváez trade attractive to the Mariners, and manager Scott Servais also took a turn speaking to the media to share his thoughts on how Seattle’s 2020 team is shaping up. Oh, and don’t forget about the team’s picks in the Rule 5 Draft.
Once the Winter Meetings wrapped up, we got our Mariners Talk duo together to break down the latest news from the M’s. But there’s even more to this episode.
Not only does the video include Mariners insider Shannon Drayer and Brock & Salk’s James “Boy Howdy” Osborn’s full conversation about the team, but Drayer also caught up with more of the more intriguing players in Seattle’s farm system in a Skype interview with Logan Gilbert. The Mariners’ 2018 first-round draft pick had a strong 2019 season, and Gilbert is also likely to break through to the majors in 2020.
