We all know Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson has been hosting a ‘summer camp’ of sorts with new and old teammates in Southern California. But what goes on during this camp?
Well, a new video series that Wilson debuted Monday on his YouTube account shows exactly what he and the other players have been up to.
Seahawks training camp preview: Russell Wilson and the QBs
The video is a breakdown of the first day of the camp, and it shows how Wilson is using this as a leadership opportunity. There’s clips of him sitting down with the group of assembled players, including second-year Seahawks running back Rashaad Penny, backup quarterback candidate Paxton Lynch and rookie wide receiver D.K. Metcalf, to explain why he brought them all together. There’s also a lot of fun to be had, like action on the basketball court. And then there’s the reason why they’re all there in the first place – the work on the football field.
You’ll also see 710 ESPN Seattle’s own Jake Heaps, who was there helping out much like he does as coach for Wilson’s RWQB academy.
Here’s how Wilson describes the video on his YouTube account:
“I got together with some of my teammates to train and get ready for training camp. I wanted to have an opportunity to get to know these guys on a more personal level, and for them to get to know me. We had rookies like DK Metcalf, Gary Jennings, and Jazz Ferguson, all the way to vets like Nick Vannett, CJ Prosise, and Ed Dickson. We trained, watched film, and of course got into some friendly hoops around the world competition. John Ursua and I went 14-0, and that’s all I’m gonna say about that. Day one of #SummerCamp definitely set the bar high for the rest of the weekend!”
