The University of Washington athletic department announced last week a new partnership with Adidas. The school has yet to publicly unveil the new football uniforms, but members of the Seattle media, including 710 ESPN Seattle’s Mike Salk, got a sneak preview Tuesday.
What did Salk make of the uniforms?
“Great news,” Salk said during Brock and Salk’s ‘Good News, Bad News, No News’ segment on 710 ESPN Seattle Wednesday. “I had an awesome time yesterday getting the up close view of what they’re doing with that partnership with Adidas. I know they’ve been leaked so you’ve probably seen some of the pictures. I will tell you the pictures are accurate, but what I saw in person was even cooler. It just looked better up close. The purple is a truly deep purple, the gold on the pants matches the gold on the helmets, the white is a truly bright, clean white, and they have little rain drops inside the numbering – it looked really good.”
July 1 kicked off Washington’s new 10-year contract with Adidas. The school will release uniform details in waves, with football uniforms unveiled July 10, women’s soccer uniforms on August 6, volleyball uniforms on August 9, men’s soccer uniforms on August 13, and cross country uniforms on August 28. In addition to new uniforms, the partnership launch includes custom footwear designed for both athletes and fans. An official launch party is scheduled for late September.
