Documents purportedly detailing the Houston Astros’ trade discussions have leaked, and among the chatter is an overture from the Mariners involving outfielder Dustin Ackley.

According to Jon Morosi of FOXSports.com, the Astros say that “a portion of the material was embellished or completely fabricated.”

The information appeared on an anonymous data-sharing website called Anonbin.com and claims to be taken from Ground Control, the Astros’ internal online database that among other functions logs discussions with other teams regarding potential trades. Deadspin was the first to report the story.

The Astros have been apologizing to other clubs about the leaked information, according to ESPN’s Buster Olney.

According to the documents, Mariners general manager Jack Zduriencik asked his Astros counterpart Jeff Luhnow last November whether Houston would trade catcher Jason Castro to Seattle for Ackley. When Luhnow said no, Zduriencik asked whether another player in addition to Ackley would be enough and was told the Astros would “take a look,” according to the documents.

Ackley was the second overall pick in 2009, which was Zduriencik’s first year with the Mariners.

Castro, 27, posted career-highs in average (.276), doubles (35), home runs (18) and RBIs (56) last season, his third in the big leagues.
