Kyle Seager’s case for an All-Star selection was padded a little more on Monday.

The Mariners third baseman was named American League Player of the Week for the second time this season; he previously shared the honors with Chicago’s Jose Abreu in late April.

This time Seager won the award on the heels of a week where he led the MLB in hits (14) and slugging percentage (.958). He hit .583 (14 for 23), led the A.L. with eight RBIs, was second in the league with 23 total bases, and added two homers and three doubles while recording five multi-hit games.

Entering Monday, Seager had a .277 average and the leads the Mariners in home runs (12), RBIs (55) and OPS (.836) this season.

Though Seager is not among the leaders in All-Star Game voting, he ranks second among all A.L. third basemen in average, home runs, RBIs and OPS.
