The Seahawks have a franchise tag on Frank Clark to ensure the rising star defensive end will be on their roster in 2019. But with Clark in search of a long-term extension and the Seahawks having just locked up Russell Wilson for the next five years and still needing to figure out what to do with Bobby Wagner, a trade of Clark is very much in play.

Amidst Wilson’s deadline for Seahawks, Frank Clark trade rumors appear

Tony Pauline of DraftAnalyst.com joined 710 ESPN Seattle’s John Clayton on Thursday morning and shared insight on a team that inquired with the Seahawks about a Clark trade, the teams most likely to try to acquire Clark’s services and what a Clark trade might bring back to Seattle.

Here are a few things Pauline said during the segment with Clayton.

What would a Clark trade look like?

“I think in the case of Clark, especially if (a team that trades for him) can sign him to a decent deal, it would be a second-round pick and then maybe a later-round pick this year or a conditional pick next year depending on his production. You’re definitely looking at a second-round pick.”

Jets want Clark but might not have enough to get him

“It’s well known the Jets have been in desperate need of a pass-rusher literally for the past 15 years. … Frank Clark was the guy they wanted. … I’m told that the Jets had made some offers to Seattle. The problem with the Jets is they don’t really have the ammunition at this point and time that Seattle wants for Frank Clark. (The Jets have the No. 3 overall pick, but Indianapolis has their second-round pick due to a trade from last year) … If they build up enough ammunition, they will broach the topic of trading for Frank Clark again.”

Who is in the mix?

“I’m told that the Indianapolis Colts and the Kansas City Chiefs are two teams that are really gonna look hard to trade for Frank Clark. … The Colts do have the Jets’ second-round pick this year, which is at the top of the round. From what I’m hearing right now, the Colts have the most ammunition to trade for Frank Clark if that’s what they want to do.”

Pauline covered much more during the interview, which you can listen to in the player embedded in this post or in podcast form at this link.
