The Mariners are off to a franchise-best 7-1 start to the season after a 2-1 victory over the Angels Tuesday night. Ryon Healy, who has been filling in at third base for an injured Kyle Seager, joined 710 ESPN Seattle’s Danny, Dave and Moore to recap Seattle’s fast start.

ESPN’s Passan: Mariners ‘enjoyable team to watch in a very weird way’

The Mariners veteran has eight hits and four runs scored so far, including two home runs.

“Man, I haven’t even tried to think about it to be honest,” Healy said of his performance this season. “I’m just so focused on the day-to-day. Having success like that is just kind of me expecting to be successful, so it’s not something that I overthink or try to dissect or wonder why it’s happening.”

Seattle’s batters have 73 hits through three series, but the biggest critique facing this team has been on defense. Seattle has a league-high 13 errors; the next-highest team, Boston, has seven.

Dylan Moore, currently in his first year in the majors, committed three errors in a single inning Friday. Danny, Dave and Moore asked Healy, who was seen consoling Moore after the game, what that conversation was like.

“It was kind of an in-the-moment thing, I can’t even tell you word-for-word what I said,” Healy said. ” I just know I’ve been in moments like that and all I wanted to hear in that moment was, ‘It happens, it happens, it’s normal.’ And that’s all you need to hear: it’s normal, it happens, it’s not fun, everyone knows that. But it’s not forever. The moment passes and the sooner you can get to the next moment and leave that one behind, the better off you’ll be.”

Healy also talked about what his focus was on this offseason, and the team’s send-off for Ichiro Suzuki. Listen to Healy’s full interview in the audio clip embedded above or download it in podcast form at this link.
