The Seahawks have reportedly re-signed outside linebacker Mychal Kendricks to a one-year deal worth $4 million, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo.

Kendricks, 28, has yet to be sentenced for the insider trading charges to which he pled guilty last year. An answer about his long-term availability for Seattle will come after his April 4 sentencing.

The Seahawks originally signed Kendricks ahead of their Week 2 game against the Chicago Bears last September. The signing was intended to bolster a weakside linebacker spot that had been vacated due to starter K.J. Wright’s knee surgery. (It’s worth noting that Kendricks would likely be a cheaper alternative to Wright, who is now an unrestricted free agent.)

After a broken tibia landed Kendricks on the injured reserve list in December, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll hinted Seattle would be interested in retaining the linebacker for 2019.

“It’s just been such a difficult season for Mike,” Carroll said. “My heart goes out to him. He wants to be part of this thing so badly, but he doesn’t get to this time around. We look forward to getting him back next time and keep him with us.”

Kendricks finished his season in Seattle with two sacks, 20 tackles and three quarterback hits through four starts.
