Pac-12 conference play had been smooth sailing for the UW Huskies men’s basketball team – right up until last week.

First, senior forward Noah Dickerson suffered an ankle injury that made him day-to-day going into maybe the toughest road trip of the season in Arizona. And while the Huskies made it out of Tucson with a 67-60 win over the Wildcats on Feb. 7, Arizona State handed the Dawgs (10-1 Pac-12) their first league loss two days later.
Now the Huskies are heading across the state to take on rival WSU (3-8 Pac-12), and even though Washington defeated the Cougars 85-67 in Seattle last month, WSU now has star Robert Franks back from injury and is coming off an impressive sweep of the Arizona schools last week.
“Robert Franks is a tough (player). He wasn’t playing the last time we played them so now we gotta come with a totally different gameplan,” Dickerson told 710 ESPN Seattle’s Danny, Dave and Moore on Thursday. “But we play our defense and do what we do, I think we’ll be fine.”
Dickerson is averaging 12.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this season, and despite his ankle issue was able to put up 18 points on 5 for 7 shooting and eight rebounds in the loss to Arizona State. So how is his ankle holding up?
“I’m doing a lot of rehab, but it’s getting there, getting back to 100 percent,” he said. “It’s just a little bump in the road, we’ll be fine.”
As is customary on Danny, Dave and Moore, Dickerson’s interview covered a wide range of topics, including his twin brother, his husky dog Sosa, and tailoring his game after Shaquille O’Neal. You can listen to the full conversation embedded in this post or download a podcast of it at this link.
Tune in to the UW-WSU men’s basketball game at 5 p.m. Saturday on 710 ESPN Seattle.
